The transition of property ownership after a person’s death doesn’t have to be as complex and expensive as a lot of people believe it is.
The preparation of a proper Will or Trust Agreement can make sure this transition occurs as seamlessly as possible. Often time this can be accomplished without proceeding through the courts. However, when the court does get involved, this process is referred to as probate. Despite misunderstanding by many, probate is simply the process of gathering the deceased’s assets, paying their remaining debts and disbursing the remaining property either in accordance with their Will or by law. Since the 1980’s, the lawyers at Hedback, Arendt and Carlson, PLLC have been assisting their clients through this process at what can otherwise be a very difficult time in their life.
